Our Story

About Air-MedAssist: Our Journey

 

Founded in 2003, Air-MedAssist was born from the personal journey of our founder, Antoine Speed. The catalyst for starting our company occurred when Antoine's son was diagnosed with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia, a rare condition where internal organs are outside the body, and critical surgery could only be performed at the Children's Hospital of Tampa Bay, FL. Faced with the dire need for rapid air transport, Antoine was struck by the realization of how difficult it was to secure the right medical transport service during a life-threatening emergency.

This life-altering experience inspired Antoine to create Air-MedAssist with the goal of bridging the gap between families and the specialized care they urgently needed. Our mission became clear: to provide seamless and compassionate air medical transport, delivering families peace of mind during their most challenging moments.

Milestones
2003: Founded – Air-MedAssist was officially launched with a vision to provide reliable air medical transport services to individuals in need.

2004: First Flight – After setting up operations, our first medical air transport flight took place, offering our first family the care they needed with compassionate, timely service.

2006: Expanding Reach – As demand for our services grew, we expanded our service area, covering more regions across the U.S., ensuring that families could access life-saving care no matter where they were.

2010: Partnership with Leading Hospitals – By 2010, Air-MedAssist partnered with several prominent hospitals and medical centers, expanding our network to provide a wide range of air medical services.

2015: Launch of Ground Services – Recognizing that some emergencies require transportation from facilities to air medical transport hubs, we introduced ground ambulance services to complete the journey with safety and reliability.

2020: Global Expansion – Air-MedAssist began to expand our reach internationally, providing air medical transport services to and from countries in need of specialized care.

2024: Expanding Services – Our services continue to grow with the introduction of drug rehab and nursing home transfer services, alongside interfacility transfers, making us a one-stop solution for critical transport needs.

At the heart of Air-MedAssist is our founder and CEO, Antoine Speed, a compassionate leader driven by a deep sense of purpose and a personal understanding of the critical need for timely, reliable medical transport services.

Antoine’s journey to founding Air-MedAssist was shaped by a powerful personal experience. When his son was born with a Diaphragmatic Hernia, a rare and life-threatening condition where the intestines are displaced into the chest cavity, Antoine and his family faced the unimaginable. Their newborn required urgent surgery, but it could only be performed at the Children's Hospital of Tampa Bay, FL—a facility that could offer the specialized care needed. The only way to get his son the care he needed in time was through medical air transport.

This moment of crisis left an indelible mark on Antoine. It was a defining moment that not only tested his faith but also highlighted the urgent need for compassionate, reliable medical transport. The experience gave Antoine a profound understanding of the emotional and physical toll such emergencies take on families, and it sparked his determination to make sure that no family would have to face such a situation without the support and care they deserve.

With years of experience in emergency medical services, Antoine Speed used that moment of personal hardship to create Air-MedAssist—a company that provides not only safe and efficient medical transport but also empathy and reassurance during life’s most challenging times.
